Green Chiretta
Green chirreta is one of the medicinal plants that has been widely known for a long time. Although it is not native to Indonesia, green chiretta has become one of the ingredients of traditional medicine in Indonesia, especially for diabetes. This plant is thought to have originated from India, but has spread across Asia to Australia, and is even known in Central America. The scientific name of Sambiloto is Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f.) wall ex. Nees, belongs to the Acanthaceae family. This plant generally grows wild and is widespread from coastal areas with sandy soil types to highlands (900 m asl) with andosol soil types.

The characteristic of bitter is that it has a bitter taste. The cause of this bitter taste is the main chemical content in the form of diterpene lactone group compounds which include andrographolide, deoxy andrographolide, neoandrographolide in andrographis. Several studies reported that in addition to the diterpene lactone compounds, the pharmacological activity of this herb was also due to the phenolic and flavonoid compounds it contains.
